Day 1 – Packing, packing, packing :S

This morning started EARLY as Mommy and Daddy got up to make big breakfast for the family one last time before the big trip. Daddy was a bit frazzled because he sadly did not have any coffee cream… After a fantastic breakfast Uncle Geoff, Ben and Daddy hurried out the door to make it to the Santa Claus parade. Ben’s Cub Scout pack made an INCREDIBLE float for the parade, and Uncle Geoff agreed to help by driving the emergency car.
The parade was a lot of fun! We all huddled around our artificial campfire (with real smoke) and sang our favorite campfire songs for the throngs of people lining the streets. The kids did great, and our float won 1st place for the “Most Creative Float”! After the parade we parked our float and waited for Santa Claus to arrive. We had front row seats as Santa’s float pulled in. After the parade Ben and Daddy hurried over to Tim Hortons for their favorite hot beverages.
When we got home, Mommy was a bit frazzled trying to pack for six people for a month. After we sat her down and made her play with Daddy’s iPad for awhile she seemed much happier 
. Now it’s Daddy’s turn to pack up all the games and the $700 of Scout Popcorn our friends and family so generously bought… Should be a challenge for sure! As an aside, Ben was the the top selling youth at our group, and sold $958 worth of popcorn and received a $50 donation as well! Over $600 of the popcorn sales goes directly back into Ben’s group which will make a HUGE difference for the kids! THANKS TO EVERYONE!

Packing, packing, packing… It really is a fine art to pack for a flight… I mean 50lbs sounded like a lot… Bag on scale… 57lbs?!?! Drats! So the dance continues… At least we found a solution for the Scout popcorn and Girl Guide cookies (see picture) -> checked “bag” #6 
. 6 checked bags, 7 carry-on bags, 2 checked booster seats and 2 carry-on car seats (around 400lbs of luggage) and we’re done!
Vacations are a LOT of work!
